My role as the Chair of the Host Users Group started with a conversation when I started at Delaware North five years ago.  Chris Boyd, a past Chair, encouraged me to go to my first conference in 2010 and from then on, I've been a HUG champion.  Joining the HUG Board in 2012 has led me down a unique experience that I have taken so much away from.

Living in Buffalo, NY, I have enjoyed a landscape with a lot of opportunity.  It took me a lot of miles and meeting a lot of people before I decided that Delaware North would be a great place to work.  I started my journey at DNC working strictly with hospitality solutions, most notably SMS.  The SMS environment at Delaware North led me to be an expert in the IT side of supporting the applications, while working with our operations and 25+ hotels across the US and Canada.

When I have some free time in Buffalo, I enjoy following our losing sports teams (looking better this year!), skiing, and eating some of the best food in the country.  You won't find chain restaurants here!  I also enjoy volunteering my time on the board of the Reinstein Nature Preserve and Roswell Park Cancer Institute's "Ride for Roswell".

I joined the HUG Board as I saw it an opportunity to get into the industry of hoteliers.  While reading manuals and dealing with your own properties' problems are a great way to get familiar with SMS, meeting others, bouncing ideas off of colleagues, and networking has been the best way for me to grow.

Being on the HUG Board has been an exciting opportunity and I encourage others to take advantage of the opportunity.  I can't wait to bring the 2014 HUG Conference back to Chateau Elan; see everyone there!
