Rich Morehouse - Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort

Wow what a crazy time of year for us in the ski resort industry. Finishing off winter in the Wasatch (2 feet in the last two days (4/2)), staff evaluations, planning summer and next winter's rates and packages, fiscal budgeting for 14/15 year, and saying good bye until next time to those seasonal staff members. I'll be taking my crew to a suite at the local hockey game. I'm also trying to figure out how to use up some vacation time so it won't expire before the end of the year.
My name is Rich Morehouse this is my second year on the HUG board, I have been a SMS/Host user for 14 years, and with Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort for 23 years. Hospitality industry has been my life from my first Job in Maine, resorts in Vermont and New York, and now Utah.
My current role is the Director of Revenue Management and Central Reservations. It is a role I helped develop with the support of the COO, CFO, and the Director of Marketing and Sales. I chair the Revenue Committee which consists of the Vice President of Resort Operations, the Directors of Lodging, Sales, Retail, Spa, Tickets, Marketing, Mountain School, Food and Beverage, as well as the Property Managers and their operational leads. The group fosters lively discussions at times which require a calming influence and compromise that I often provide. Conversations range from customer experiences, marketing efforts, operational concerns, and what's next. This team provides a collective role in establishing policies, strategic plans, and financial sustainability.
This year I have taken the on the roll of Treasurer for the HUG board and hope to be as successful as my predecessor, Marie Bell who was elected as our new VP. I'm responsible for the invoicing of the membership, and presenting and monitoring our operating and conference budgets. I have really enjoyed working with the board members over the last year. We had some attrition and still pulled off a very successful conference in Vail (with 3 new board members and great guidance from those veterans). This year we have 3 new board members and they are jumping right in. Our next meeting is in May, in the beautiful northwest city of Seattle. This meeting we begin our pre planning for the 2014 conference at Chateau Élan. We will be looking at possible sessions, session leaders, and reviewing RFP's for the 2015 conference.
If you have any ideas for the conference sessions, something you want brought up to the board, questions about your invoice, or vacation ideas please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
